marriage and more marriage

my, that is a HUGE picture

marriage and more marriage

why do people get married?

why do we need more paperwork?

why don't marriages work for most couples?

why isn't marriage equality a no-brainer?

why are we in auto-pilot toward being "married with children"? it seems to be the Best most miserable Important job in the universe

maybe thats another beast altogether. of course it is

i dont think i believe in marriage
it doesnt seem realistic
life is so fluid and unpredictable with just what comes at you as an individual
put another person into the equation....

and this thing about planning on getting married. especially by a certain age. when you have no partner in sight. i dont believe in relationship goals

especially the "where is this going?/sh*t or get off the pot" variety
you mean to tell me that if we dont "see a future" we should stop enjoying each other now?

ive been on the atypical side of this, with pre-professional young men tellin me i need to straighten up and get wife-and-kid-minded cuz thats the kinda people ill be around

why do all the good ones wanna get married and have kids?

my current partner definitely wants to be married and procreate. part of him wants to hold out on the paperwork until its no longer a hetero privilege but a right of all companions but part of him wants to be selfish and get his commitment on. and have lots a kids. he has four siblings.

i, on the other hand, have always, since i can remember, been on the "no" side of childbirthin. it always seems too immense to even fathom. all of it. til death. *yikes* the responsibility, the worry.. my mama NEVER for a second stops worryin. and i completely take after her personality. i dont wanna live like that!

i dont know where im goin with this
its just always everywhere

and takin a name? ive thought for a while no way how am i supposed to suddenly be someone else when my whole life ive been a V_____... but the first comment on one of the above links was that either way her last name will be a man's, father or hubs, so may as well be the brand new fam she's starting. humph. V is my daddys name and not my mamas. well ill be danged. mama's name is hyphenated..
and now ive hypothetically given myself a 5-word name that no one including myself will ever bother to say all together

incredibly hypothetically cuz me and my partner are from opposite corners of the united states. we met in the middle last year, i moved back in october, and he's movin back in june. tho last nite he did concede that he'd be open to "spending some time in georgia"... thatll do.

we got today, and maybe an idea of the next few months, but really anything can happen at any moment. we've freaked out about it plenty over our almost-year(?!) together and have tried to be aware from the get-go that we'd eventually experience a split....

and then i went "on tour"
and now im here all the time lol
we had thanksgiving together with his sister
and i met his parents and baby sister on tour in their hometown
and he met my fam at graduation

and everybody loves everybody
and what a big ol mess we got now! :)

but i still dont think i need to get married
who for?
its for appearances
so you appear stable and stand-up kinda people
model citizens
respectable types

show your commitment to me by still being here
if you dont want to anymore then by all means, you should go!
no paperwork, no fees
sure, we should try to work it out, but why does the government need to get involved? they dont know us.

and weddings, yikes!

being married doesnt bring your partner home at nite if they dont wanna be there. except by obligation after theyve done their deeds wherever they been, i suppose

its a status symbol and a mirage

it doesnt work

but maybe thats for others

my hypothetical pseudo-potential imaginary marriage would be about me and them... and i shouldnt worry about statistics. cuz we're gonna be different!

HA!

i just scared myself..............but really, what's it for?
